Ireland’s EURO 2016 dream still very much alive

Tonight Ireland will be hoping to secure their place in next year’s EURO 2016 in France. Ireland went into their play off game against Bosnia & Herzegovina as the underdogs but with an excellent strike from Robbie Brady in the last few minutes of the game under the fog of Zenica, we have it all to play for now.

I would have certainly taken a 1-1 draw before kick off last Friday and with the game finishing that way on the night we all had something to cheer for.

We are off to the Aviva this evening and with a sold out game in the capital Ireland will look to carry on the success from Friday night.

Martin O’Neill also has a number of positives looking to tonight’s game with players returning to strengthen the squad, Jonathan Walters will almost certainly be a sure thing with Shane Long and John O’Shea both fit to feature.

Bosnia need to score tonight and will attack from kick off, if Ireland sit back and simply defend we will be in for a nervy and in my opinion a disappointing night. Ireland need to forget the away goal cushion and start the game too with some real attacking intent themselves if we are to be the winners on the night.

So can we do it? I hope so but it’s going to be one of those nights that sees the nation hiding behind the sofa for most of it.
