The South Dublin County Council have announced plans to display the National Flag at Council Headquarters to commemorate the Anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.
Local Councillor Charlie O’Connor had raised the matter with the CEO of South Dublin County Council to ensure that the National Flag was displayed.
Council Management have confirmed that
“as part of South Dublin County Council’s Centenary Programme a special flag raising ceremony with the Irish Defence Forces will take place outside County Hall prior to the Council Meeting due to take place on the 11th April 2016 to mark the centenary of the 1916 Rising”
Councillor O’Connor said he expected that this decision by the Council will be warmly welcomed throughout the community.
