Apple sells 13 million new iPhones in launch weekend

Apple has revealed that they sold over 13 million iPhone 6s and 6s plus models on the first launch weekend. This is a new record for the company, which previously counted their highest sales at 10 million in the first weekend of 2014.

Tim Cook, Apple’s chief executive, said in a statement, “Sales for iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus have been phenomenal, blowing past any previous first weekend sales results in Apple’s history.

“Customers’ feedback is incredible and they are loving 3D Touch and Live Photos, and we can’t wait to bring iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus to customers in even more countries on October 9th.”

The new iPhones will be available in over 40 countries including Ireland from October 9th and eventually rolling out to 130 countries worldwide by the year-end.
