Champions League Matchday 1 Results

A bad night for the two Manchester sides in the Champions league with both City and United on the wrong end of a 2-1 Scoreline, despite both teams taking the lead.

And the bad news didn’t end there as they both lost key players to injury with Vincent Kompany and Luke Shaw failing to last the 90 minutes. Luke Shaw’s injury looked particularly nasty and could be out for some time.

United took the lead on 41 minutes when Memphis Depay scored against his old team before Moreno equalised just before the break, the winner came on 51 minutes with Narsingh 57 getting the decisive goal.

Meanwhile back in Manchester, City took the lead on 57th minute from a Chiellini o.g. before goals from Mandžukić (70) and Morata (81) saw last years beaten finalists take all 3 points.

Ronaldo started this years campaign in style scoring a hat-trick with 2 of them coming form the penalty spot, in Real’s 4-0 defeat of Shakter Donetsk in Madrid.

Astana’s Champions League debut ended in a 2-0 defeat at Benfica while PSG registered a 2-0 win at home to Malmö with summer acquisition Angel Di Maria opening the scoring after just 4 minutes.

Atletico Madrid stunned Galatasary in Istanbul with 2 Griezmann  strikes on the 18th and 25th minute while in the other tie of the night Wolfsburg beat CSKA by on a 1-0 scoreline.
