Conor McGregor releases statement saying he isn’t retired

The Notorious has finally shed some light on the reasons behind his tweet on Tuesday in which he spoke of retiring.

Posting on his Facebook page this afternoon, the Crumlin man, who is currently in training camp in Iceland, explained that he has had enough of promoting his fights and wants to concentrate on getting himself right for his showdown with Nate Diaz in July.

In words that will be music to the ears of his many fans worldwide, he makes it clear that quitting is definitely not an option for him and he fully intends to appear at UFC 200.

‘I am not retired, I will always play the game and play it better than anybody, but just for this one, where I am coming off a loss, I asked for some leeway where I can just train and focus. I did not shut down all media requests. I simply wanted a slight adjustment.”

The statement can be read in full here

Will be interesting to hear what Dana White has to say next…
