Housing deal could save Tallaght’s Cuckoo’s Nest

A year on from closing, the Cuckoo’s Nest by Tymon Park could be on its way to reopening. The owners, the Lynch family were forced to close the premises last year due to mounting debts in the region of €3 million, however a possible deal to build houses on the extra land beside the pub could save the business.

Phyllis Lynch has put forward a planning application with the South Dublin County Council to build a 45 unit development which would consist of 39 three bedroomed homes and six two bedroomed apartments. This would mean that the Tallaght Theatre would have to be demolished, however it would be relocated closer to the road. The Lynch’s have run the business since the 1960s.

The Council will make a decision by July 6th. If approved, The Cuckoo’s Nest may well be reopening soon.
