Investigation of weekend fire at local school begins

St Anne’s Primary School in Fettercairn remains closed today following a fire over the weekend.

Four units of the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the blaze, which is believed to have started in one of the classrooms at the school in Kilcarrig Avenue, at around 7pm on Saturday before it was swiftly brought under control.

In a statement released over the weekend Dublin Fire Brigade  said:

“Gardaí from Tallaght were called to a fire at a school in Fettercairn Tallaght.

“Five units from DFB attended the scene.

“Damage was mainly confined to one room.

“No injuries and not believed to be suspicious.”

Principal Mary Cullen said St Anne’s Primary School was closed today to allow for an investigation into the fire but the school will reopen tomorrow.
