After the big trip to Donegal at the start of the week it’s home sweet home for The Hoops tonight for their heavyweight clash with Pats. (KO 8pm)
That 1-0 win in Ballybofey gave Rovers the perfect start to the season with nine points from a possible nine and no goals conceded.
Finn Harps proved a tough nut to crack on Monday night, as indeed did Wexford Youths last Friday in Tallaght Stadium, with The Hoops needing the patience of Job to eventually kill off the two promoted sides. Tonight they may require Moses and his staff to part the red sea in the shape of a resurgent Pat’s side.
The Inchicore club will have their tails up following their 3-0 hammering of Bohs on Monday and a 1-0 away win at Longford last weekend.
They seem to have got their act together after their unexpected battering at home to Galway in their opening league fixture and ex Hoop Billy Dennehy will be a threat to the Rovers back four as will the reinvigorated Christy Fagan.
Rovers have a few injury worries tonight with Dean Clarke definitely ruled out after picking up an injury against Wexford Youths last weekend. Killian Brennan may also miss the clash with his former side after he picked up a knock against Harps. Captain Stephen McPhail and Luke Byrne are both still unavailable but should be back in action very soon.
Match tickets will be on sale at the Rovers ticket office from 6.30pm and the club advise that because a big walk up crowd is expected please arrive early to avoid queues.
