Minimum wage to rise to €9.15 per hour

The Budget announcement for 2016 revealed that minimum wage per hour would rise from €8.65 to €9.15, which is nearly a 20% increase.

Minister for Public Expenditure Brendan Howlin said that the increase along with the reduction of Universal Social Charge shows the Government’s commitment to helping the low paid.

The Government has been using the tag line “ We want to make work pay”, particularly in the run up to the budget.

The wage increase will be implemented from January 1st, 2016.
