Tallaght man Michael J. Whelan has an exhibition on in August as part of National Heritage Week. Michael will display poetry and images inspired by the poets of the Great War, and his own peacekeeping duties in modern day conflicts in the Balkans and Middle-East. Michael was second place winner in the Patrick Kavanagh International Poetry Awards 2011 (short-listed 2012), and third place winner in the Jonathan Swift Creative Writing Awards 2012 (short-listed 2011) and was selected as a reader at the Eigse Eireann/Poetry Ireland Introductions 2012.
