SDCC distributing smoke alarms to vulnerable members of the community

South Dublin County Council (SDCC) is making a number of smoke alarms available to vulnerable and older residents of the county free of charge. This initiative is funded by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government.

SDCC are inviting applications from vulnerable older people who are living in South Dublin County. This scheme is not available to tenants of South Dublin County Council. Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis. Alarms are fitted with a 10 year long-life battery and do not require connection to mains electricity.

If you are interested in applying for an alarm, please email for an application form.stopfire
