Early morning M50 commuters experienced major traffic delays due to a crash before Junction 9 at the Red Cow shortly after 7am this morning.
A Dublin Fire Brigade spokesperson said that six vehicles were involved in the serious crash and that units from Tallaght and Dolphins Barn attended the scene of the accident.
The crash site has since been cleared but traffic on the M50 northbound was reportedly “solid from J11 Tallaght to J9 Red Cow due to people slowing to look at the incident on the southbound side”.
It was taking an hour and 45 minutes to travel from the M1 via the M50 to reach Junction 9 at the Red Cow a journey that should only take around 15 minutes.
Delays have since been reduced to 35 minutes on the route.
Emergency services responded to the crash which was blocking three lanes; only the auxiliary lane remains open.
Traffic is still very heavy with all roads to the M50 reporting long delays.
