Tallaght hospital strike may be called off

Following 19 hours of talks between the HSE and the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) regarding Emergency Department overcrowding, both sides have reached an agreement.

The talks took place at the Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) and includes a number of provisions to tackle overcrowding and patients waiting on trolleys. The HSE and INMO agreed to return to the WRC in a month to discuss the progress of such measures.

INMO are meeting later today to discuss whether the rolling strike scheduled for this Thursday January 14th will be cancelled, in seven hospitals including Tallaght, Beaumont Hospital, Dublin; Mercy University Hospital, Cork; Cavan General Hospital;University Hospital Waterford; MRH, Tullamore and University Hospital, Galway.
