Tayto sold to German company

Bad news for all those who claim that Irish crisps are best in the world – Tayto have been sold off to German company Intersnack and will technically not be Irish-owned anymore! Largo foods had previously owned the snack brand after buying it from C&C in 2006 for €68 million.

Largo foods founder Ray Coyle sold his shares which account for 25% of Tayto to Intersnack but has agreed to stay on as chairman and director of Largo foods until 2017. Coyle established Largo foods which own King, Hunky Dory and Perri 33 years ago.

Coyle also set up Tayto Park in Meath which reported over 750,000 visitors so far in 2015.
