Independence Day is one of the greatest sci-fi movies of the nineties and it starred Will Smith, Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum. The Academy Award winning film now has a sequel coming in the summer of 2016 entitled Independence Day: Resurgence, and the first trailer was recently released.
The big news for the sequel is that Will Smith chose not to reprise his role as Captain Steven Hiller. It looks like Liam Hemsworth has taken over as the male lead, along with the returning Bill Pullman as Thomas J. Whitmore and Jeff Goldblum as ESD Director David Levinson.
Resurgence takes place twenty years after the events of the first film as humans are still trying to rebuild the world as well as protect it from future invaders using technology which was salvaged from the remains of the alien forces which were destroyed on Earth.
The film takes place as the aliens return once more after the first wave from the original Independence Day were able to send a distress signal before being destroyed, which results in another attack on Earth and the human race.
This is the first full length trailer for the film and it is one of the few films which should have a teaser when you consider that Independence Day has arguably the best teaser trailer ever made. (Well worth a watch if you have never seen it)
One of the things which is instantly noticeable about the trailer is that some of the CGI isn’t as good as it could be in parts of the trailer. However, with a long while to go before the film is released hopefully this can be rectified as the CGI looks brilliant in others such as the alien ship crashing.

Independence Day: Resurgence is due for release on June 24th 2016 and it will be released in 2D, Real 3D and IMAX 3D, although lets not rule out a worldwide release on July 4th .
