Microsoft’s 4K-enabled, slimmer Xbox One S will launch in the UK on August 2, the technology giant has confirmed.
Having been unveiled at E3 in June, the much-rumoured console will be the first step in a two-level upgrade from Xbox over the next 18 months or so – with the ultra powerful Project Scorpio console set to launch at the end of 2017.
The One S comes with 4K Ultra HD support for video playback (not games just yet), as well as the revamped wireless Xbox controller, as well as two terabytes of storage. It’s also 40% smaller than the current generation Xbox One.
Smaller 1TB and 500GB versions of the console are due to launch at a later date.
August 2 also neatly ties in with the release of the Windows 10 Anniversary Edition update, a piece of software that could well ship with the console as a result.
