If you’re tired of seeing adverts of protein shakes offering you that perfect summer body or dream beach holidays there’s no way you could afford, then you’re in luck.
There’s a campaign to replace every single advert on the London Underground with pictures of cats, and it sounds like a brilliant idea. Who doesn’t love cats?
The Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (C.A.T.S) has launched the petition for two simple reasons: firstly, because it would look amazing (duh!) and secondly, it’s exhausting being asked to buy stuff all the time.
It’s asking cat-lovers to donate money to its cause because, according to the Tube’s advertising company Exterion, £20,000 is all it takes to transform a small dull platform on the London Underground into a roaring cat haven.
The purr-fect pictures would be plastered up for around two to three weeks, ensuring thousands of travellers get their daily dose of cat fun in the capital.
So far 268 generous backers have given £5,342 to help make the dream a reality, but the Kickstarter campaign doesn’t end until May 21 so there’s still hope.
“We know this is a silly project. But what if we did this around the whole country, or in every major city in the world?” C.A.T.S wrote on its crowd-funding page.
“Dumb yes, but also this is about trying something, flexing our collective voice in the most idiotic of ways. From all this madness something amazing could happen. Perhaps we’ll start to realise that buying stuff isn’t making us happy.
“Maybe cats won’t make us happy either, but it’s got to be better than insurance adverts. Maybe during this moment of cat related calm we might have a brilliant thought, or a dumb one or even… spend a moment thinking about nothing at all.”
